Get in touchAbout Lindsay Wasserman
I'm Lindsay Wasserman, M.S., CCC-SLP/TSSLD, a licensed speech-language pathologist and certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) in New York. I also hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
I earned my B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Ithaca College and my M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Touro College. I have experience working across a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, a charter school, and a specialized special-education setting in New York City. I provide speech, language, feeding and AAC therapy to children across New York City.
My approach is warm, child-first, and family-centered. I meet each child where they are while encouraging progress, and I coach caregivers so growth continues long after each session ends. I have learned that consistent progress happens when families are true partners in the work. I believe that every child deserves to feel confident communicating, and that speech therapy should be something to look forward to: welcoming, playful, and fun.

Consultations & Evaluations
Consultations
A consultation is an initial conversation to understand your child's communication or feeding strengths and challenges and find the right starting point. Through a caregiver interview over the phone or Zoom, we'll talk through your concerns and what you're seeing day to day, and I'll help you decide whether an evaluation or therapy is the best next step. I offer a free 30-minute consultation to prospective families, so we can connect before you commit to anything.
Evaluations
An evaluation is a closer, more in-depth look at your child's skills in the area(s) of concern. At this time, I offer informal, non-standardized assessment across speech, language, feeding, and AAC. The results guide an individualized plan, including goals and recommendations. Families are involved throughout, so we're collaborating on your child's care.
Individual Speech & Language Therapy
Speech and language therapy are often closely related. Therefore, I believe in a "whole child" approach to therapy. Therapy should be a supportive, welcoming space where children feel safe to learn, grow, and have fun, because that's when they make the most progress. Families are partners in this, so I stay in close touch with caregivers to keep progress going between sessions.
Speech
Support for articulation, phonology, and motor-speech challenges, so your child can be understood and feel confident being heard.
Language
Focusing on receptive (understanding), expressive, and pragmatic (social) language, so your child can connect with the people around them.
Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
Communication goes beyond verbal speech. For kids who communicate in other ways, I help families find the right AAC system and build functional communication with it.
What AAC sessions may include
- AAC evaluations and device selection
- Programming and customization around your child's specific needs and vocabulary
- Hands-on therapy to build functional, motivating communication
- Training for family, caregivers, and school teams as communication partners
Feeding Therapy
Mealtimes should feel safe and positive, for your child and for you. I offer evidence-based support for picky feeders, as well as motor feeding support that meets your child exactly where they are.
What feeding therapy can help change
- Limited food variety and extreme picky eating
- Difficulty accepting new textures, tastes, or food groups
- Oral-motor skills that make eating harder
- Stress and pressure around the table
We'll expand your child's comfort with food step by step, and I'll coach you on strategies that make mealtimes more successful.

Get in touchFrequently Asked Questions
I work with children across a range of speech, language, feeding, and communication needs, as well as children who use AAC. If you're wondering whether your child is a fit, reach out and we'll talk it through.
Confident Communication NY is a private-pay practice. Each month I provide an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. It is the client's responsibility to submit all necessary paperwork should you seek reimbursement from your insurance. Please contact Lindsay for further information regarding pricing and payment.
Sessions may take place in your home, the child's school, or wherever they learn best. I currently serve families across New York City.
Sessions typically range from 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Frequency depends on your child's needs and goals. We'll decide together after an initial evaluation what makes the most sense for your child.
AAC stands for augmentative and alternative communication: any tool or method that supports or replaces spoken language so a child can express themselves. AAC ranges from low-tech options, like picture boards and communication books, to high-tech, speech-generating devices and communication apps that speak aloud when a child selects words or symbols. For a child who has challenges with spoken language, an AAC device offers a reliable way to communicate, and research shows it supports, rather than hinders, the development of speech and language.
Reach out by phone or email for a brief conversation about what you're seeing and what you're hoping for. From there we'll decide together what the best path forward is.
